More than 200 women from across Santa Clarita will do just this as they learn about the unique contributions of women in the story of Passover.  On March 18, the SCV Jewish Women’s Seder explores the history of the Passover holiday, from a women’s perspective.

“Throughout history, women have played integral roles in the lives of the Jewish people,” says Karen Blum, one of the event organizers.  “Women in Judaism have helped shape and guide the religion in so many essential ways,” Blum says.

This is the fourth year of the Women’s Seder in Santa Clarita.  Each year, new participants discover this very special event.  Hadassah’s Kochava group, the SCV’s first Hadassah group, started the annual Women’s Seder.  The women of the Hadassah’s Kolot Nashim group, as well as the Sisterhoods of Congregation Beth Shalom and Temple Beth Ami join Kochava this year.

“This event will help bring together all of the Jewish women in the Santa Clarita Valley,” says Tracy Blazer, another event organizer.  “However, women of all faiths are always welcome to join with us as we celebrate the contributions of women in our common history.  At past Seders, we’ve enjoyed the company of women of all religions,” Blazer says.

All participants will enjoy an innovative service, musical entertainment by renowned artist Cindy Paley, plus a wonderful catered meal.  The cost is $36 and Seder begins at 4 p.m.  The event will be held at the Newhall Seventh Day Adventist Church, 24436 Valley Street, Newhall.  Space is limited and reservations are required.
