Think you’d like to try something you’ve never tried before?  Why not?  You could learn more about the life and works of William Shakespeare, explore doing Tai Chi in a chair or prepare to write for publication.  These are just a few of the classes being offered during the College of the Canyons Spring Semester of it’s newly expanded Emeritus College, formerly known as the older adult program. The classes are effective in promoting mental and physical health among the elderly.

They can increase the mobility of the older adult population through fitness and individual development classes.

Some of the various new classes include: Tai Chi, Computers and You II, The Law and How to Use it, Creative Expression through Symphonic Band, Film Appreciation, Creative Expression Through Jazz Band, Writing Personal Histories and Music Appreciation.

“Emeritus classes are specifically designed to meet the needs of older adult learners, addressing not only a wide variety of subject matter but also the social and emotional needs of mature students who take classes for the love of learning,” says Karen Gorback, associate dean for community extension and noncredit programs.
