If you are one of the thousands of people in Santa Clarita who have been given a free bottle of water on your way out of the gym, a free newspaper as you board the Metrolink or free candy while you watch the Christmas tree lighting, you have probably wondered, “Who are these people?” Well, that would be us. Real Life Church is a group of people who truly want to serve, rather than be served. It’s our hope to show God’s love in a practical way.
Real Life Church has been meeting in the Edwards Valencia 12 Theaters in Town Center for the past 6 years. We have recently purchased land on the corner of Newhall Ranch Road and Grandview and are preparing to build in the spring. But even though building a permanent facility is exciting, we are more excited about our opportunities to make an impact both locally and globally. Each month you can find groups of people from Real Life Church working at the Homeless Shelter, the Hunger Defense Fund, Carousel Ranch, Special Olympics and on many other projects. In addition, we are completing an orphanage in Uganda to help provide shelter and safety to thousands of children who have been orphaned due to the AIDS virus. We are sending teams of people to help not only to Uganda, but also to Brussels, Italy and the Dominican Republic and every year we send out teams to help build houses in Mexico. These projects not only go a long way in changing our world, but the lives of the participants are always changed as well.
We want to invite you to be a part of the adventure of Real Life Church. Each weekend we meet at two locations: Saturday night at His Way Church, 23670 Wiley Canyon Rd., Valencia at 4:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. and on Sunday morning at Edwards Theater at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. We like to say that Real Life Church is for people who have stayed away or strayed away from church. You will find a casual atmosphere, relevant teaching, contemporary music, high-energy kids’ programs, and a chance to plug into these life-changing adventures happening both here and around the world.
If you’ve never been to RLC, a great way to check things out is on Easter Sunday. And in the spirit of Real Life Church, we will be continuing our efforts to serve. Our offering on Easter Sunday will be going to help fund local projects, such as the Homeless Shelter, Single Mother’s Outreach, the SCV Pregnancy Center, the Food Pantry and others.
