If you are frequently using medication to treat recurring symptoms, stop and think a minute. Maybe you aren’t getting to the cause of the problem, but merely covering up symptoms.
Of course, some problems require medication. As doctors of chiropractic, we look to treat the cause of the problem. Working with patients in this way is extremely rewarding, especially when we see them reach a pain-free lifestyle. As chiropractors we often see conditions of the spine that can be treated safely and naturally with great results. This helps in reducing the use of medications.
Although treating the spine is a chiropractic specialty, a common conversation I have with patients is with the misunderstanding that the only area chiropractors treat is the spine. This is just not true. As doctors of chiropractic, we treat conditions from headaches to extremities. Often we meet patients who have been suffering with headaches for years. When we find the cause of the headache to be in the neck area, patients are so excited that chiropractic is the treatment of choice. One of the main reasons is because they do not want to take pills for their headaches anymore. Most often with chiropractic, they find relief and control of their headaches. Another conversation is with sports-related injuries. Patients are not aware that chiropractic has great results with sports injuries. This type of injury can be medicated as well, usually for quite some time before patients realize they are just covering up the symptoms. Applying sports medicine to conditions that involve the spine and extremities is helpful in getting athletes back into competition. Hoping the injury will get better on its own is not usually going to happen. Shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle injuries happen all the time with athletics. Our office has great results when treating these sports conditions.
You should have your spinal condition or extremity condition checked today. Proper chiropractic care, proper nutrition, regular exercise and sufficient rest could eliminate the pill popping habit.
