Image     Santa Clarita art gallery owner Dave Joseph and his wife Barbara found out first hand about the goings on at the set of the CBS television show NCIS.  The couple visited the set of the show filmed in the Santa Clarita Valley and watched actor Mark Harmon in action.  Harmon plays a former Marine gunnery sergeant who leads a colorful troupe of personalities, including forensic specialist Abby Sciuto played by Pauley Perrette.   The Josephs couldn’t resist posing for a photo with the actors of the hit show.  Image I almost forgot to tell you about my encounter last month with an actor from the television show Heroes.  It must be because he plays the character (Haitian) on the show who causes people to lose their memories.  The actor is Jimmy Jean-Louis who grew up in a remote village in Haiti and has appeared on The Shield and The District.  When the Magazine caught up with him, he was shooting a scene in one of the rooms at the Valencia Hyatt.  The actor is fluent in five languages, including English, French, Spanish, Italian and Creole.  Fluent in a big way with lyrics and story-telling is singer/songwriter/guitarist Kenny Loggins who recently got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and performed on stage at the Valencia Hyatt ballroom.  Loggins brought attendees to their feet with a rousing rendition of Footloose.  For four decades, Loggins has performed his soulful songs straight from the heart and the proof of his ability to communicate through music is in the pudding with his 12 platinum albums.  Local saxophonist, Everett Harp, who has toured with Anita Baker and Luther Vandross, not only surprised the audience when he appeared from the back of the Hyatt ballroom with his soulful stylings, apparently Loggins was surprised as well.  But, like a true pro, Loggins skatted back-and-forth with Harp showing off his voice in true top form.  It was a rare and memorable moment in time.Image Local restaurateur and film producer, Mike Beurer, owner of the Roast House is seeking the musical sounds of artists, including Tim McGraw and Merle Haggard for film production of a script The Jerico Road, written by his brother, Richard.  It’s a fictional story about a mural of Elvis on a church wall and the fight over saving it from being torn down.  Several name actors are under consideration for lead roles in the 7 million dollar production movie, to be shot in Chicago or Louisiana.  Come on, Mike, why not bring it to Santa Clarita?
