Image John Gedney was the man of the hour as he took the hot seat at this year’s Elk’s Roast held on February 17 at the Elks Lodge in Canyon Country.  Roasters bestowed gags and good-humored jokes aplenty on Gedney as community members chuckled the night away as Gedney took his took his ribbing in stride.

Santa Clarita councilman Bob Kellar served as the auctioneer, selling a trip to Ventura, a romantic weekend in Valencia, golf packages, and guitars autographed by Country superstar, Willie Nelson and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones after inspired bidding wars!  Image The two black lab puppies donated by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich were cuddled and passed around before finding the perfect homes. After the auction the roast was led off by a hilarious video “investigation” of John Gedney and his role as CEO of G/G Industries, followed by more “facts of life” by John Reardon and Gedney’s long-time friend, Joe Burdullis.  Georgeanne Gedney, John’s oldest daughter gave an accounting of growing-up “Gedney-style” and Don Fleming had the audience roaring with his enthused tales.  John fired back a witty rebuttal for the insults that had been thrown his way.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the Samuel Dixon Family Health Center.
