Most people visit a mall to shop, eat or socialize. Then there are those who realize the benefits of walking and believe in the statistic that 30 minutes of walking a day adds 1.3 healthy years to your life compared with people who have low activity levels.
In an ongoing effort to support healthy living, Providence Holy Cross has partnered with Westfield Valencia Town Center to support the walking craze to healthy living with the free Westfield Walkers exercise program fitness.
Members receive exclusive discounts at the mall stores, the chance to win prizes, including a $100 gift card and complimentary pedometers and a mall walker t-shirt.
“We are very excited to be able to provide this program and the tremendous opportunities it offers to our customers,” said Jalina Warner, Marketing Director, Westfield Valencia Town Center, “Westfield Walkers will benefit from exercising in a safe, friendly, clean and climate-controlled environment, all while earning special prizes for reaching specific mile goals.”
It’s been proven that walkers have a lower incidence of cancer, heart disease and stroke and with that in mind, Providence Holy Cross Medical Center finds great value in the program.
“This free walking program will provide one of the easiest physical activities to maintain good health and prevent many series problems,” says Linda Gaul, Manager, Senior Care Services, Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center and Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.
Other aspects of the program include free seminars on the second Friday of each month on health and fitness, held in the food court from 9 to 10 a.m., a holiday celebration in December and an awards ceremony in June.
Become a Westfield walker today and enjoy the perks immediately. That means, improving your quality of life as you walk your way to a longer life. Who knows, all that extra time may give you added time to shop or simply share moments with your loved ones.
