We are multidimensional beings and we are all interconnected to each other and all living beings. We are also interconnected within ourselves. Each organ, muscle, tissue, fiber and cell of our being is in constant relationship to everything else within us.
Our thoughts are connected to our bodies as well. That is why certain emotions can lead to certain physiological dysfunctions and vice versa. No one is to blame when they become ill, however becoming consciously aware of what is going on within us and the certain dynamics involved can elevate our awareness to new levels if we seize that opportunity to grow.
Getting traditional allopathic medical attention is important. Integrative treatment utilizes all of what may be available. In working with an integrative healthcare practitioner, it is not necessary to choose one type of treatment over another. Utilizing the best of what traditional allopathic treatment offers, as well as what holistic treatment offers, may yield the most successful results.
Remember that you are your best patient advocate when dealing with any physical ailment and especially when dealing with long term, chronic and even life-challenging illnesses. Ask the questions you need to ask, keep a notepad with you so you can write down the responses from your doctor or you may not remember them and make sure your concerns are addressed.
A holistic practitioner may be trained in a very different way than a medical doctor or MD. It is important to remember to not expect your medical doctor to know all about natural, holistic treatments. That is not where their training lies, and their experience in those areas is limited.
Similarly, a holistic practitioner is not trained in treating with prescription drugs and pharmaceuticals and a holistic practitioner has limited experience with knowing which drugs you should take for a particular condition.
We are living during a time when great knowledge is known in both allopathic and naturopathic medicine. Take advantage of the knowledge available and remember that you can be integrative and incorporate both traditional allopathic treatment from your MD and naturopathic treatment from a knowledgeable holistic healthcare practitioner.
Remember, you are in charge of your health. Get the treatment that feels right for you.
