What initially brought me to try hypnotherapy was an openness for growth in my life. Even though at the time I didn’t feel that I had a need, I wanted to experience something I had never tried before.
I had a curiosity as to how this might help me in my journey. I also knew that any kind of therapy involves trust in the individual who’s working with you. After getting to know Virgil and hearing positive testimonies about him from other professionals in the community, I was ready.
The process is a safe, peaceful, yet powerful one that has allowed me to let go and move past ongoing behavior patterns that were getting in my way, behavior patterns that I can now recognize and choose to alter with conscious awareness. Hypnosis has given me a greater appreciation for the power of my mind and how literally every feeling I have is the result of what I’m thinking about. Being able to recognize how I feel allows me to focus my awareness to what thoughts are generating those feelings. With hypnotherapy, I feel the willpower to shift my thinking from the negative to the positive becoming easier and easier.
At 50 years of age, my mind is still in training. Hypnosis is helping me retrain my mind from conditioned responses and old behaviors that I’ve had in the past. I used to get stuck in what I call negative loop tapes from past events or something currently troubling me that I couldn’t or wouldn’t let go of. Now I can catch myself more easily by being aware of how I feel and making a choice to change that to how I want to feel. Ask yourself what am I feeling? Then ask yourself if you’re in line with what you want is this how I want to feel? We all want to feel good and if our mind is bombarding us with negativity, why not change that? Intellectually we may all understand this; however, we might feel stuck in our ability to change it. This is where hypnosis has helped me.
What I didn’t appreciate prior to this experience is how important the thoughts I think moment-to-moment profoundly affect my life. In other words, I didn’t give much thought to my thoughts. I have a deeper understanding now of the power of my mind and how it effects my moments, my days, my life. I find myself now being more in the moment; in the moment with how I want to feel and not staying in the trauma drama of the stuff I don’t want to hold onto. If anyone wants to shift their thinking, I strongly recommend hypnotherapy as a very practical method to accomplish that.
