Preventing aging means protecting yourself from physical abnormalities and disorders before they appear on the body. There are several points to keep in mind in order to prevent aging.
Continue to Work. As we grow older, we should continue to work as long as we are able. Lack of activities and work make us age not only physically, but also mentally. Naturally, everyone regresses with age; however, mental regression occurs at a slower rate than physical regression. As average person will begin to feel the regression between 50 to 60 years of age. Therefore, it is important to find work and activities that are physically suitable as we grow older in order to prevent aging. Reading newspapers or magazines and staying informed with current events are good ways to keep from aging mentally.
Do Not Forget. As we grow old, it becomes easier to forget. Our memory will get worse, so make notes to yourself and make it a habit of writing daily schedules on calendars.
Maintain a Positive Attitude. Keep your mind happy. Surrounding yourself with young people and enjoying their company will be helpful.
Exercise Regularly. Walk 30 to 40 minutes each day. Avoid strenuous exercise. Walk about two miles slowly.
Get Sufficient Sleep. As we grow older, we lose sleep. Take a short walk or do light exercises to help you fall asleep. Eating late will strain your stomach and hinder your sleep. Our most effective sleep is between the hours of midnight to 4 a.m.
Pay Attention to Temperature Change. When the weather is cold, an average person’s blood pressure will increase slightly. A person with high blood pressure can have a drastic effect in their blood pressure with sudden temperature changes. Extra care should be taken when going outdoors during winter by dressing warmly.
