It’s almost vacation time for school-age children and while they’re looking forward to going without homework until fall, you’re probably wondering how to keep them busy and learning. The Child Care Resource Center (CCRC) can help you keep those boredom blues away, by providing you with tips, ideas and a place that will keep kids learning while they have fun.
CCRC’s unique Book, Toy and Resource Library, is the place to find toys, games, books, videos, teaching materials, art supplies and more that you can borrow at no cost. CCRC’s resource specialists are available to work with you to plan fun and educational activities all year ‘round for family time, rainy days, holidays and school vacations.
CCRC has two library locations in Northridge and the Antelope Valley to provide you with hundreds of ideas for children’s activities. The libraries even have tricycles, play equipment, learning games and puzzles, giant blocks, water tables and much more, all available to any parent, child care provider, teacher or student for free.
One visit to CCRC’s libraries will provide you with all the tools you need to play with your kids in a way that will also encourage them to learn and develop important skills.
Children learn through play, that’s why playtime is the perfect time to encourage them to develop their ability to solve problems, socialize, follow directions, build and stretch their imaginations. These are all skills that will help them grow up to be well-balanced, healthy and successful.
CCRC’s resource libraries are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. They are located in Northridge at 8510 Balboa Boulevard, Suite 100, 661-255-2474, extension 2025 and in the Antelope Valley at 42281 10th Street West, Lancaster, 661-949-0615, extension 162.
A creative and age-appropriate plan for your child’s fun and active summer vacation is only a call or a click away.
