The greens are being carefully manicured at Robinson Ranch Golf Course in Sand Canyon for the 2nd annual golf tournament on May 21st.  The Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley has a diverse range of fun planned for the event where all proceeds will benefit various community projects in the Valley including the Healthy Kids Club and Healthy Woman’s Day. The cost for individual play is $175 and includes all range balls, a golf cart, bag tags, lunch on the course, gift bags and a delicious buffet at the end of the tournament in the main clubhouse. This year, the Title Sponsor for the event is Michael Berger, SCV’s “Man of the Year” in 2006 and a well-known philanthropist in our Valley.  His sponsorship purpose is close to home as he honors his mother, who was one of the Santa Clarita Valley’s earliest members. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with play beginning at 9:00 a.m. on a shotgun start.  Tournament play will be in a scramble format that allows players of all levels and abilities to enjoy the day.  Using this format, all players tee off from the T-Box, then the following strokes for each hole are played from the player’s ball closest to the green. Players will also be able to buy raffle tickets at the tournament for some wonderful prizes.  Anyone who purchases a Super Ticket in the “Closest to the Hole” contest and the “Longest Drive” contest have a chance to win a four-day vacation to Cabo San Lucas.   Four lucky players who purchase a Super Ticket and whose names are drawn randomly, will compete at the end of the tournament for a chance to win $100,000 if they drive a hole-in-one from a set yardage on the 18th green. There will be three other opportunities for players to win fabulous prizes should they get a hole-in-one.  Don Fleming is offering up a new car, Bob Kellar of Kellar Davis is sponsoring a hole-in-one that will pay out $10,000 to one lucky player. Santa Clarita Golf Cars will give a brand new golf car to another lucky player. There are many different sponsorship levels starting at $100 and going up to $2000.  Eagle sponsorship is $2000 and includes four player slots, one tee sign on the course, recognition signage on the course and a one page ad in the program. Birdie sponsorship is $1000 and includes four player slots, one tee sign on the course and a one page ad in the program.  Par plus sponsorship is $500 and includes a one page ad in the program or a marketing opportunity on the program.  Par sponsorship is $150 and includes one tee sign on the course and a business size card ad in the program.  Cart sponsorship is $100 and includes signage on three golf carts.
