Palomar Lux1540 Fractional Laser is a revolutionary approach to all laser resurfacing procedures. It treats lines, wrinkles, age spots, melasma and scaring, especially acne and stretch marks. Lux1540 treatments can be applied to most body areas such as the face, including around the lips and eyes, neck, arms, hands, stomach and buttocks.
Lux1540 works by delivering light in an array of narrow, focused microbeams to create columns of coagulation (heat) deep within the skin leaving the epidermis intact. The heated tissue within these columns initiates a natural healing process that stimulates collagen remodeling to form new healthy tissue. This will result in a fresher, more youthful skin tone and texture.
There are other brands of non-ablative laser that send light pulses into the dermis while
leaving the epidermis intact. The difference is in the depth of the beam and the quick healing. When the light pulses don’t penetrate far into the dermis, the change in skin tone and texture is less effective and permanent. The StarLux FLT offers superior results, speedy healing and little to no downtime.
StarLux FLT treatments are also easier than other technologies, which can involve long prep and clean up time. Some devices even require that dye be applied to your skin, which is difficult to rise off. StarLux doesn’t require dye or lengthy appointments.
By delivering light as individual pulses of microbeams, the Lux1540 protects the skin from overheating that can result from many other resurfacing lasers. Lux1540 features built-in cooling, so you feel only minor discomfort during treatments. A topical anesthetic ointment is applied to allay the discomfort.
Side effects are minimal for most patients, typically involving redness, swelling or tightness. Swelling should subside within a day or so and redness usually fades over several days. Patients can apply make-up immediately after treatment. Generally, you can receive a treatment and go back to your activities without any recovery time.
Most people notice a positive change in skin tone and texture within a few days. Skin gradually becomes softer, smoother and fresher. Fine lines will noticeably fade and uneven coloring improve.
Clinical studies suggest that three to five treatments spaced about three to six weeks apart produce a gradual remodeling of dermal matrix components. Once complete healing occurs and good material that contains collagen and elastin replaces old epidermal and dermal tissue, the results are long lasting.
