They knew there was an outstanding need for families to adopt foster children and had talked about adopting additional children to add to their family of two, but, it wasn’t until they saw a specific article about adoption in last months Magazine of Santa Clarita that they took action.
Leslie Dombro read the story in the May issue featuring three of 119,000 foster children nationwide that are in need of a home. Children’s Bureau, an organization that provides training, financial aid and medical support for potential parents provided the names and pictures to us of the siblings, Lola, Matthew and Paul.
Dombro moved into action in more ways than one.
“The story and photo of the three siblings is hanging on our refrigerator door. Lola, Matthew and Paul are special to me already. I know we might not get them by the time we get through the training, but, we’re going to try,” said the Stevenson Ranch mother of two children, Jesse, 13 and Clare, 7. “We needed to stop talking about it and make a call.”
And that is just what they did.
“We’re going to pursue something that we’ve always thought about. I don’t know that we would have if it hadn’t been for the story,” said Dombro, who will this month begin the adoptive training program with her husband, Jeff.
“We just want to make a difference, that’s all,” said Leslie.
