The Santa Clarita Symphony recently took music lovers on a Baroque trip back in time to circa 1772, during its innovative performance of An Evening at the Palace, the season’s first Theatrical Masterpiece Concert.

The concert was held at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center where actors portrayed the 18th century Prince Nikolaus Esterhazy and his princess. It transported audiences back to the year 1772, as the Symphony re-created Joseph Haydn’s dramatic farewell Symphony, Number 45, under the direction of Maestro Robert Lawson.  Santa Clarita’s own Blue Cactus Pictures, provided Baroque-inspired staging and art direction. The Repertory East Playhouse (REP) dressed actors in period costumes.  The 22-member Santa Clarita Symphony was joined by internationally-acclaimed soprano Marissa Steingold.  For more information about upcoming concerts visit the web at www.scsymphony.com or call 661-284-6044.
