The 14th annual Cowboy Festival was alive with nationally-renowned western entertainment, including the music of Bill Barwick, the Sons of the San Joaquin, cowboy poet Baxter Black and numerous other performers, who regardless of the unseasonably warm temperatures, kept thousands entertained during the two-day event at Melody Ranch motion picture studio.

Smaller outdoor, tented stages as well as a main stage were constantly topped with performers who packed in crowds to appreciate and applaud their talents.

Barwick, who performed at the Cowboy Corner stage, once hated the sounds of western music as a kid when his Dad played it, says he has now come to appreciate it and has been making a living at performing it all across the country for the past 16 years.

You Just Can’t See ‘Em From the Road is one of the various songs Barwick, a song writing chart-topping singer, performed.  Referring to the life of a cowboy in his song and in an interview afterwards, Barwick said that it isn’t about money for them, they still believe in freedom, riding the fences and living the rancher’s lifestyle.

This years event saw the addition of some unique children’s activities with an authentic flair, like learning how to lasso and riding the bucking bronco.
Authentic western gear and food were aplenty at the ranch and until next year…happy trails to you.
