Unfortunately, it had been more than three years since we last saw one another. No blame, no one’s fault. What is important is that we saw one another recently and both felt good and said those three powerful words to one another, “I love you.”
My 91-year-old Dad is towards the end of his life. On the suggestion of my dear friend Lisa, she said to me the night before my meeting with my dad, “Why don’t you take impressions of your dad’s hand?” Wow, what a light bulb moment. What a wonderful idea and why didn’t I think of that myself? Upon my arrival at my Dad’s home, I told him that I was going to take a clay impression of his hands. Dad was fine with that and even half slept as I laid his soft, delicate fingers upon the cold clay. They turned out amazingly beautiful. I am, and will be forever grateful to have this treasure in the years ahead. Though the years between us we have had ups and downs, this memory and treasure will last a lifetime. Thank you Dad. I love you.
