SCV Soroptimist International Club members and guests are still reeling from the psychedelic-colored clothing, a gyrating Elvis impersonator and the sounds of the groovy 60s at the club’s recent annual party and auction held at the Valencia Hyatt Hotel.
Over $80,000 was raised at the event and the clubs Vice-President and Charity Auction Chair, Cynthia Eichler was definitely more than happy with the results.
“We are extremely pleased that the community came together to celebrate with us at our 32nd Annual Charity Auction: Flashback to the 60s. We witnessed the real flower power of a fun era.
Actor Lou Diamond Philips was the guest of honor and he donated a sweater he’d worn in the film, La Bamba. It was the highest bid item at the auction where Robert Benjamin paid $4,200 for the right to own the clothing, framed beautifully. Proceeds will benefit local charities and foundations.
