The City of Santa Clarita is 70 trees richer after the recent Arbor Day celebration at Central Park where they were planted as part of the 18th annual Arbor Day Celebration.

The event was free of charge for residents as part of the City’s Neighborhood Leaf Out Program.  In addition to the tree planting activities, there was live entertainment, food, children’s activities, a compost workshop and tree pruning demonstration, exhibitors and a raffle.

1000 free trees were offered to those in attendance.

Environmental groups that participated in this year’s Arbor Day celebration included: Southern California Edison’s Vegetation department, the Energy Coalition, Castaic Water Agency, Placerita Canyon Nature Center, L.A. County Forestry and Fire, U.S. Forest Service, L.A. Sheriff department, Optimist group, Friends of the Santa Clara River and the National Wildlife Federation, Audubon Society, Bio Contractors and the L.A. County Gardening Program.
