ImageIn honor of her many years of dedicated service in making College of the Canyons’ University Center a reality, Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook, Superintendent/President of the Santa Clarita Community College District and College of the Canyons, was extolled as a living legacy to the continued progress of the ever-expanding campus.

As part of a community-wide thank you for her extraordinarily successful efforts on behalf of the community, the Santa Clarita Community College District Board of Trustees officially named College of the Canyons’ soon-to-be-constructed University Center, the Dianne G. Van Hook University Center by a unanimous vote.

Crediting her tireless commitment to enhancing access to education, along with her belief in the power of dreaming big and never giving up, the action came during a joint meeting of the District Board of Trustees and the College of the Canyons Foundation Board held in the lobby of the college’s Performing Arts Center on May 2, as an overflow crowd of well wishers and supporters cheered her on.

“I am deeply honored and humbled by this gesture of the board and am very grateful to have this building named after me,” Van Hook told guests.  “It hasn’t been easy, but no project of this magnitude and complexity could be accomplished without a steadfast resolve to see it through.”
