New Board members who were officially sworn in to the Santa Clarita Valley Resource Center last month and plan to keep the needs of volunteers and non-profit organizations at the forefront of their focus. That emphasis includes a user-friendly website where those organizations seeking volunteers can list job descriptions and hook up with volunteers who can also list their profiles.
“It’s a volunteer matching network,” says the new Executive Director of The Resource Center, Sharalyn Hamilton, who is very excited about the notion, “Volunteers can even keep track of their hours on the online site making it great for earning certificates and keeping track of community service commitments.”
The Center is also a training hub for volunteer enthusiasts, as well.
“We need to keep recruiting and retaining volunteers. The baby boomers are coming into the market now and we need to be ready for them,” says Hamilton.
The Executive Director loves being able to help other people realize their potential.
“It’s an amazing sense of fulfillment,” she says.
Hand-in-hand with their new website is their annual guide, with a distribution of 10,000, listing names and contact information about Santa Clarita Valley non-profit organizations. It’s distributed to schools, health care professionals, the Chamber of Commerce, in new home packets, among various other target audiences.
The SCV Resource Center also helms the annual “Make A Difference Day” to be held this year on October 27th.
