The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center is gearing up for this year’s Classic Wine Benefit Auction to be held on Saturday, October 6 at Le Chêne French Cuisine located at 122625 Sierra Highway from 11 am to 4 pm. This year will be the 16th annual of this highly successful event that supports The Center’s Home-Delivered Meals program and others to serve local seniors in need. Tickets are $60 each. The theme for this year’s event is “A Toast to Independence.”
Assemblyman Cameron Smyth will be the Honorary Chair of this year’s event. Assemblyman Smyth is a member of the California State Assembly’s Select Committee on Wine. The 2007 event is chaired by Duane Harte, president of the newly formed SCV Senior Center Charitable Foundation. The goal this year is to raise $150,000. Harte says he is excited to have the Assemblyman on board for this event and is very appreciative of Smyth’s willingness to serve especially due to his involvement with the Select Committee on Wine.
The Senior Center’s Executive Director Brad Berens says, “As funding continues to erode and expenses, such as gasoline for the Center’s nine Home-Delivered Meal routes, continues to be high, it becomes more and more critical that these events continue to grow.”
“We would like to have at least 100 business card ads, only $50 each, for the event book. With the growth of the valley, the Valley Industrial Center, the Chamber of Commerce members and others in Santa Clarita who care about our community,” Harte says, “We believe this is obtainable.”
Reserved tables for eight guests are available at $480. Sponsorships and underwriting opportunities are available for local businesses as well as advertising in the event book. All forms are available on the Senior Center’s web site at www.scvseniorcenter.org . As the date draws closer, forms for sponsorships, donations and table reservations will be available by calling the SCV Senior Center.
This prestigious event was co-founded by Mayor Emeritus, Jo Anne Darcy and Chef Juan Alonso of Le Chêne French Cuisine. If you think you’d enjoy a pleasant day in the French countryside, just join us on October 6.
