Oh, the people you sometimes see when you’re out shopping…if you don’t have your eyes too focused on the sales, you’ll spot celebrities, just as Sandy Garcia and her daughters did recently while shopping at the Santa Clarita Valley Target store. “My daughters, Brianna and Sarah and I were doing our Sunday shopping and my daughters spotted ImageJamie Lynn Spears (star of Zoey 101) near the electronic department. As we were checking out she was gracious enough to pose for a memorable photo with them,” said Garcia. Keeping more of a low Profile at Westfield Valenica Town Center Mall was actor ImageG.W. Bailey. Fans of M*A*S*H, the long-running Korean War television series where the characters distracted themselves and viewers from the horrors of war, would have recognized Bailey, who played pool-hall con artist Private Rizzo Army Sergeant Luther Rizzo. The actor was picking up a new pair of glasses at the mall, a necessity for getting a closer look at the lines in the scripts for his role in the hit television show, The Closer. Without 20/20 vision, it might be challenging for the actor who plays Detective Lt. Provenza to help the show’s star, played by Kyra Sedgwick, to successfully solve cases. Actor ImageRick Hearst doesn’t really seem to need any help at all in winning the hearts of General Hospital television show viewers. The local actor/dad and husband just picked up his third Emmy statue at the June awards and shares his love for life, acting and his family in an interview featured in the August/September issue of “élite magazine.” In my cover story interview with Hearst, he speaks up about the importance of cherishing each and every moment in life. Local studio owner Mike DeLorenzo fills up his moments with a hectic schedule running Santa Clarita studios with its eight state-of-the-art sound stages and two swimming pools. Business continues to grow with the shooting of network television shows for the fall season. DeLorenzo says a new television show starring Oscar-nominated actress ImageMelanie Griffith, named Viva Laughlin for the USA network. And of course, Big Love, the popular HBO hit show is returning to the studios for production this season, as well. Always ready for a tall order, DeLorenzo hosted the production of a commercial starring basketball great, ImageShaquille O’Neal. Yes, the celebrity sighting beeper goes crazy at Santa Clarita studios year ‘round nearly every day as production of all types stays steady for DeLorenzo. If you have a celebrity sighting you’d like to share, write to editorial@santaclaritamagazine.com.
