Zonta’s Red, White and Blueberry Breakfast at the 4th of July Parade in Newhall has been a hit for twelve years. The event, purchased this year by Don and Cheri Fleming, featured a table on the shady side of San Fernando Road in front of Canyon Theatre Guild for prime, upfront viewing of the annual parade activities.
As the parade passed by, the Flemings and their 12 friends enjoyed Zonta’s culinary creations of fresh fruit with whipped cream; a selection of orange, cranberry or Newhall juice; bagels and cream cheese; hot muffins; a variety of home baked vegetables; Italian sausages; chili, cheese and egg quiches and an assortment of casseroles.
The guests received small gifts of homemade jellies by “Jud” and handmade candles by Barbara.
The Red, White and Blueberry Breakfast has been offered as a live auction item at Zonta’s Annual Celebrity Tribute event for 12 years. Plans are in progress to offer the breakfast again at Zonta’s Celebrity Tribute fundraising event which will be held at the Odyssey on November 2. So mark your calendar for the tribute event and prepare for a prime observation spot for the 2008 4th of July Parade in Newhall.
