It is perfectly normal to be nervous about your first colonic, but there is nothing to be nervous about. People often have misconceptions about what’s going to happen and how they will feel afterward.
What are the benefits of colonics? Why should I have one?
There are three main benefits of colonics:
1. A colonic cleans out the colon. This is what most people come for. A colonic is a gentle and comfortable way to remove impacted and encrusted fecal matter and harmful bacteria from the colon. This helps with constipation, gas, bloating, irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea, parasites, diverticulosis, and many other digestive complaints.
2. A colonic exercises the colon and increases normally, healthy function rather than creating dependence. It’s like taking your muscle to the gym.
3. Reducing the toxicity of the colon opens the path of elimination in the body which allows your other systems and organs to release their toxins. So, a colonic effectively cleanses the small intestines, the liver, the gallbladder, the sinuses, the lungs and the entire lymphatic system. This is the most important benefit of colonics.
Is there any preparation for a colonic?
Unlike a colonoscopy, there is no elaborate preparation for a colonic. We recommend that you eat lightly or avoid eating two hours prior to your appointment and that you drink plenty of water so that you are sufficiently hydrated. This will make your colonic more comfortable and more effective.
How will I feel after my first colonic? Can I drive myself home?
You will feel fine and you will be able to resume your normal activities after your first colonic. You may feel tired or want to take it easy. You will want to have access to a bathroom just in case you need to go, like normal, but you should not be in the bathroom all day.
What are the aftercare directions?
After your colonic, we recommend that you drink plenty of water and eat a simple, easy-to-digest diet for about 24 hours. Your colon is a big muscle and it will be a little tired. A simple diet of soup, steamed veggies, fruit and whole grains is recommended. Salads, processed foods, junk food and heavy meats may be too difficult to digest.
