What do you want? Do you want something new to wear? Do you want to try a great new restaurant? How about a new sports car? Have you taken a cruise to the Bahamas? Have you tried all of these and it still doesn’t do it?
Well September is here and autumn isn’t just nearing the end of the year. It’s actually a time of new beginnings, the school year, the start of the holiday seasons and Alpha. What is Alpha? Mark said, “When I first heard of Alpha I was at a stage when I was searching for something out there. I had questions I needed to answer.” Alpha is a course where people get together to discuss some of the important questions and issues we all have. Questions like, What is the point of life? Is there something more? What really do I believe about death and God? What gives me satisfaction and meaning? Julia said, “At the end of the first evening, I was astonished at how much I enjoyed myself. As the weeks went by, I found myself looking forward to it.” Alpha is an evening get-together over a period of ten weeks where people from all walks of life share a meal, share laughter, make friends and share an adventure. Doug said, “I wanted a non-defensive place to meet others and ask questions about God and religion without feeling like it was dictated to me.” Alpha presents a topic each evening and then is designed to let you explore that topic in a friendly place where everyone can share any opinion without feeling guilty. You will hear what others think and they will respect what you say. ALPHA is:
A nyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith.
L earning and laughter.
P asta and pie. Sharing a meal together and getting to know new friends.
H elping one another. Discussing with others the issues raised in the talks.
A sk anything – no question is too simple.
ALPHA started in England in 1992 and has spread to churches in all denominations in 160 countries around the world.
