Three stunning homes in Westridge will be decorated in the season’s finest as part of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s 27th Annual Holiday Home Tour on Saturday, December 1, 2007.
Hosted by volunteers Home Tour League volunteers, the tour is part of a time-honored Santa Clarita holiday tradition that draws thousands of people each year. Attendees not only gain early holiday decorating ideas, they support their community hospital in the process; funds raised by the Holiday Home tour will benefit Women’s Services at Henry Mayo.
This year’s Home Tour theme, “A Heritage Holiday,” is a nod to the cherished traditions that help make up a family’s heritage, with the added symbolism of the Heritage Oaks for which Westridge is known.
“I think the tour attendees are going to be very excited about the homes we’ve chosen for this year’s Home Tour,” said Home Tour event coordinator Laura Chesler. “While all the homes are in the Valencia community of Westridge, each one brings something unique to the tour, from breathtaking views to amazing architectural details. Combined with the talented decorators we have on board, it’s going to make for an event that can’t be missed.”
David and Terri Slone’s Mediterranean-style home will be decorated by Lisa Duncan, with a theme of “A Holiday to Remember,” while the traditional Tuscan residence of Michael and Molly Serrao will be decorated by Billie Hubbard in “A Bella Christmas.” Rounding out the tour is the Spanish-style Tuscan home of Martin Avila and Fredye Gonzales, which will be decorated by the Gonzaleses as “It’s A Wonderful Life.”
“All the homeowners were incredibly gracious about opening their homes to the public for the tour,” Chesler said. “It can be a little daunting, knowing that so many people are going to be touring your home, so we are so thankful for their generosity.”
The Home Tour will be open to all adults and children over 12 years of age between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007. Tour tickets are $25 if purchased before December 2 and $30 if purchased at the Boutique or at any of the featured homes on the day of the Home Tour.
An annual Holiday Boutique will take place in conjunction with the tour at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Assembly Hall in Newhall on December 1, 2007, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The sale will include clothing, handcrafted artwork, holiday décor, toffee and gift items. Complimentary refreshments will be served in the hospitality room adjacent to the boutique as Henry Mayo’s way of thanking the community for its support throughout the year. Proceeds from the Gala and Boutique will also benefit the hospital’s Women’s Services Unit.
A kick-off Holiday Preview Gala at the Tournament Players Club in Westridge on the evening of Friday, November 30, 2007, is a $100-per-person, black-tie optional event open to the community. The Gala will offer attendees a preview of the homes to be featured on the Home Tour the following day.
With 40 vendors selling everything from baby blankets to beaded handbags, Henry Mayo Holiday Home Tour’s 25th Annual Boutique offers the community a way to get their holiday shopping done while also helping the hospital and local business people.
“Approximately 60 percent of our vendors are from Santa Clarita and up to 70 percent of the boutique items are handmade. That makes for some really unique gifts,” said June Poulin, committee chair for the Home Tour Boutique.
Shoppers can choose from such items as evening wear, handmade tree ornaments and wreaths, artwork, and sterling silver and precious stone jewelry, as well as sample some tasty homemade treats such as cinnamon rolls. “A lot of people come early. That’s when you get the best selection,” Poulin said.
Complimentary refreshments will be served as Henry Mayo’s way of thanking the community for its support throughout the year. A portion of the boutique’s proceeds will benefit Henry Mayo’s Women’s Services Unit. “We hope to raise over $10,000,” Poulin said.
