Being in the art gallery business for more than 25 years I have seen many customers give their friends and family members a work of art or some framed special memento for the holidays. Art is a very personal gift, and giving the right piece to a loved one or someone special really can make their holiday unique. Art is a gift that lasts, retains its value and can be enjoyed for many years to come.
It is sometimes difficult to pick out a painting for someone else, so it is always wise to visit a gallery with that special person, to find out which piece they really like before you make a purchase for them. If you plan ahead, you can even put that special treasure on layaway, as some galleries offer this service. Some also offer gift certificates.
I distinctly remember one particular instance of a father giving his son a work of art. Both were in the movie business working on films in the area and had found our gallery through other associates in the film industry. When he gave his son the gift, we were in the back viewing area of the Gallery and the son couldn’t believe what his father had surprised him with. It was a very exciting moment, and they were both very happy.
Art that really communicates to the viewer takes them on a journey to different realities and places. A large gallery will have a big selection of paintings for viewing. It is also a lot of fun to visit a gallery with a large inventory of paintings and sculptures, as you can get lost there and have a great time enjoying a great collection and you may even find a beautiful gift for a significant someone or an item for your own home.
