On behalf of the club, I would like to extend our wishes for a happy and healthy New Year and thank you, the wonderful people of Santa Clarita Valley for all the help that you have extended to the Jim Tindell Family via our club. Your donations and support has been just awesome, and I know that I speak for the family when I say, Thank You. It is rather difficult to write and thank each and every one who has sent cards, donations of money and gift cards, so I have chosen to do it through this venue. It is at times like this that we know what a great community we live and work in. With this in mind you’re cordially invited to the “Basket of Love Auction and Raffle” that is being held on January 20, 2008, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the La Quinta Hotel, 25201 The Old Road, Stevenson Ranch, Ca. The SCV-Newhall optimist Club and Longaberger are sponsoring this event. Independent Branch Leaders Eydie McNeil and Susan Bayer of Santa Clarita Valley are also sponsoring this event.
A professional basket weaver will be on hand to show you the ins and outs of basket weaving, there will be refreshments served and a chance to bid on different types of baskets and several other surprises. For the essay contest a $6,000 dollars scholarship is the grand prize and for the oratorical contest a $1500 scholarship.
We would like to congratulate all the students and especially the winners of our 5th Annual “Kids Speak Out “ contest held recently at the Legacy Christian Academy. Mark you calendars, our second annual “Bowl-A-Thon” takes place on Feb. 16th, 2008 at Santa Clarita Lanes, from 5 to 10 p.m. and teams are now forming.
