If you hate shaving, are tired of putting up with painful waxing, tweezing or depilatory creams and sick of all the time spent removing unwanted facial or body hair can take, then laser hair removal is right for you!  Getting rid of unwanted hair can be painful and time consuming, and previously, the only options for removing unwanted hair used to be smelly hair removal creams, sharp razors, stinging wax or painful electrolysis needles, until now!
During laser hair removal process, a concentrated beam of light is aimed at the hair.  The light is absorbed by the pigment, which damages the follicle enough to retard future growth.  In order to achieve the maximum hair reduction results, multiple procedures are required in order to damage the hair follicles that are creating the hair.  Unfortunately, the follicle itself does not often provide a very recognizable target for the laser, so most lasers rely on the dark hair strand to serve as a target.  Hair that is actively growing (otherwise known as the anagen growth phase) provides a link to the root of the follicle.  About 20 percent of hair is in the anagen phase at any point in time, so it can be estimated that four to six treatments will clear about 90 percent of the hair in a treated region.

Because the laser treatment uses the hair strand to target the follicle, all treated hair will temporarily be removed.  Over the course of several weeks, much of the hair will return, although its growth will be significantly slowed and some of the hair will be finer and less noticeable.  Technically, as soon as re-growth occurs, another treatment can be given.

A few zaps of a laser does not mean that you can completely retire your razor.  What the laser can do however is reduce the amount of hair you have and perhaps lead to permanent hair removal.  In addition, it can lighten the color of the hair and decrease its thickness.
