With nearly 85,000 children in California removed from their parents’ homes due to abuse or neglect and 9,000 foster children in California waiting for adoptive homes, there is a great need for caring adults to provide loving, nurturing homes as either foster or adoptive parents. A parent information meeting will be held Thursday night, April 24th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church located at 27265 Luther Drive, Canyon Country, for those interested — adults single or married are welcome. English and bilingual Spanish speakers will be on hand.
Foster parenting involves caring for a child on a short or long-term basis while adoption offers these vulnerable children a permanent, stable home. In either case you will have the opportunity to give children who have been hurt — either emotionally or physically — a life filled with love, hope and all the little things that make childhood special!
Qualifying families receive training, certification, funds and 24-hour support to aid in the care of their foster or adoptive children. Families who can provide a home for two or more children, enabling brothers and sisters to remain together, are especially needed. Teenagers need homes, too! Training is provided by Children’s Bureau, a licensed foster family and adoption agency. Founded in 1904, Children’s Bureau provides professional treatment and prevention services to more than 9,000 abused and neglected children and their families each year throughout Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange counties. The Canyon Country, Valencia, Santa Clarita, Newhall, Acton and Aqua Dulce areas can be served from both the North Hollywood office and the Antelope Valley office located in Palmdale.
