Every minute of every day, Henry Mayo physicians, staff and volunteers work hard to meet the healthcare needs of our community.  Some do more—and during the Service Excellence Awards celebration on May 15, four well-deserving individuals were honored for consistently surpassing expectations and being instrumental in creating an ideal environment for our patients and their fellow workers.

The ceremony, hosted by Roger Seaver, included the presentation of a $200 cash prize, recognition certificate, “TEAM”—Together Everyone Achieves More — crystal paper weight and gold lapel pin to each Service Excellence Award winner.

Delora Climaco, MD, Internal Medicine — Dr. Climaco was nominated by Social Services because of her compassion, clinical skills and excellent communication. Nursing leaders at Henry Mayo describe Dr. Climaco as a physician who is known for her constructive input, and her strong support and advocacy for Henry Mayo. Staff and patients benefit greatly from her exceptional values and clinical knowledge.

Ray Zepeda, RN, CCRN, Intensive Care Unit — Ray Zepeda, RN, of our ICU, has a way of giving patients and families complete confidence in our care. They trust and adore him and many trauma patients are known to come back to the hospital especially to visit with Ray.

Nery Guzman, Environmental Services — Nery Guzman keeps our Women’s Services unit sparkling clean for mommies and babies. Nominated by the nursing staff there, she’s well-loved and a valued member of their team. Nery never hesitates to go outside the bounds of her Women’s Unit role to help with environmental service needs in other areas, going above and beyond as a team player for our hospital.

Kay Moioffer, Volunteer — Kay Moioffer has been a volunteer at Henry Mayo since May 2004. Right away she was encouraging and made suggestions to improve the gift shop.  She is so committed to Henry Mayo that she convinced her husband to work along side of her in the evenings to cover a shift.  This year, she and Angie Mariucci – stepped forward to assume the co-chair positions for the gift shop and they have successfully increased sales as they continue to introduce new merchandise.

She is described as a hard worker, a person that gets in there when there is work to be done, and she does it creatively, efficiently and with gusto.  She is a volunteer who is respectful of other volunteers and supports them while supervising their workloads.  A real team player.

Congratulations to all the Service Excellence Award winners—they received the prizes but everyone at Henry Mayo and the community reap the benefits of their dedication and commitment!
