With June right around the corner, more and more people take advantage of the warm weather to hold their dream wedding.  While the stress of ensuring that everything from the dress to the cake to the honeymoon is perfect, you can still find the time to create your own wedding creations to personalize your special day.
Instead of having your groomsmen wearing the same old flower boutonnieres, take a masculine approach of using fresh herbs.  Just purchase fresh herbs from your local grocer.  Different herbs have different meanings, such as basil for love, and lavender for devotion etc.  Then just wrap the bottom stems in floral wire to create a bundle, and cover that with decorative ribbon.  Keep bunches in the refrigerator until the big day and your groomsmen will have masculine and wonderful-smelling boutonniere.

Do you want your fluffy best friend a part of the wedding?  He is family after all and you can have him looking his best.  Just take a nylon dog collar, and cover with flat ribbon.  Then glue on rhinestones to spell out anything you wish, from “doggie of the bride” to just a simple name of the newly wedded couple.

For favors, skip the same boring monogrammed items and give out personalized candles with matching matchboxes.  Take votive candleholders and cover them with ribbon or paper that shares the theme of the wedding.  You can decorate them however you wish.  Then buy matchboxes and decorate them in the same way.  Simply remove the match drawer inside, cover with decorative paper and ribbon.  For the candle, try and stay away from candles that are too powerfully scented, as you never know which guests will have sensitive noses.  Not only is this favor customized by you, who doesn’t need extra candles around the house?

After receiving your beautiful wedding pictures, display them in a way worthy of their importance.  Use a glass-covered shadow box frame instead of normal flat frames.  Inside place your favorite pictures and embellish with anything you want!  You can also include any favors, invitations or special items you saved from your wedding day.  Pairing these together in shadowboxes is a classy and attention-grabbing way to display your memories.

Hopefully this provides a quick idea of easy-to-do projects to customize your own wedding.  More ideas can be found in the book “The DIY(Do it Yourself) Bride” by Khris Cochran.
