The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association (SCAA) will feature Plein Air watercolorist Pong Apinyavat, one of today’s foremost painters of the California coastline, at the monthly meeting on June 16, 2008 at 7 p.m.
Pong captures the many moods and colors of the sea, beaches, coastal highways and recognizable landmarks.  “My goal is to capture the beautiful natural world I see,” he says.  In the past decade, Pong has won many outstanding awards including the Grumbacher Gold Medallion Award and the prestigious Best of Show from the Weisman Museum, Pepperdine University.  Pong’s works have also been exhibited in the California Heritage Museum in Santa Monica.

Pong is a juried member of Watercolor West.  His works are found in many private collections and galleries in the United States, Asia and Europe.  He currently juries many art shows, gives popular watercolor demonstrations and teaches workshops throughout California.
Monthly meetings of the SCAA are both informative and inspirational.  Non-members are also welcomed and may attend their first meeting for free.
