It’s that time of year again. 2009 senior portraits will be taken over the summer months to meet your school’s yearbook deadline. While seniors are required to have their yearbook picture taken by their school’s contract photographer, what many parents and seniors don’t know is that you may choose any photographer for your creative senior portraits!
And who better to ask about having senior pictures taken, than the seniors themselves! I’ve asked all of the seniors who have come to me recently for “on location” senior portraits to write a little something about their experience and why they wanted creative senior portraits. Here’s what they said:
“I have always preferred things outside the box and distinctive. That is why I loved the outcome of my senior pictures, because they were so much more than the standard pictures everyone else was taking.” -Erin, 17.
“My Mom said I had a fake smile in my yearbook pictures, and that’s not how she wanted to remember them. I had a lot of fun on the shoot and we got real smiles.” -Kyle, 18.
“I always thought that the traditional studio shot senior portraits were boring and all similar. I wanted something different that would represent the person I am, and that’s what this style of photography does. It captures your own unique personality in creative ways on location, outside a studio.” -Ariel, 17.
“Being myself in front of a camera is hard and I become a stiff and awkward girl. But Sara made me laugh, feel comfortable and have a positive picture experience. She was able to capture the real me!” -Chelsea, 17.
“I decided to get my senior portraits done with Sara because the traditional senior portraits are not how I want to remember my last year of high school. Being outside in various locations around Santa Clarita represent my senior year way more than any formulated, traditional studio photo shoot would.” -Jelena, 17.
“Getting senior pictures was the best decision ever. The fact that they’re so versatile and they show so much character. There are so many awesome ones to choose from.” -Francisco, 18.
Senior portraits are truly a once in a lifetime event! As seniors begin their path to adulthood, what a great milestone to capture and cherish for years to come. Having your senior pictures reflect your personality in an authentic way will result in portraits that both seniors and parents can truly be proud of! Thank you to the seniors above who contributed to this article!
