The days of the 1950s, 60s and 70s white coping and blue tile are a thing of the past!  With all of the wonderful flagstones available today and incredible tiles to choice from it still surprises me when a homeowner asks to see blue tile when picking out the waterline tile for their new pool.  That’s an arm wrestle I usually win after showing the new tiles and stone that can be used.

After doing thousands of remodels and removing one hundred tons of blue tile and white coping from pools needing a face lift, it’s easy to convince homeowners that coping and concrete now have so much texture and create such an incredibly inviting and luxurious look and the tile needs to blend in.  Once upon a time the tile was the only interesting feature in a pool, that big blue stripe.  With stamped colored concrete butted up against stone coping or rich color poured in place coping the vision is all set in place for a fabulous Tuscan, tropical or formal setting, whatever is your pleasure.

By starting out choosing the coping and concrete first, the only thing left to do is find a tile that now blends in and almost becomes invisible.  I always remind homeowners who think blue tile is the way to go that the water is blue and you will see plenty of blue everyday and the water will actually look more blue without a blue line running around the pool.

But not to worry, for those of you who simply must have blue in your tile there are a few that will work well with Bouquet Canyon Flagstone and blend in because they have multiple colors of muted blue, rust and gray.

Most homeowners are amazed at how quickly a pool can be remodeled and what a dramatic difference this makes visually.  Once you remove the coping and tile it’s like you are starting from scratch all over again.  Many of the remodel projects are more fun and interesting than new pool projects.
