Delivering once again on its commitment to improve the health of the community through excellence in healthcare services, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s will open their cardiac catheterization laboratory, featuring the latest digital imaging equipment, this summer.
With the introduction of new procedures, equipment, and policies, Henry Mayo recently hosted a Cardiac Cath Lab Skills Fair for their nurses and technologists to deepen their knowledge as well as learn new, relevant skills. The goals of the skills fair were to provide a fun and exciting atmosphere with multiple demonstrations and stations featuring cardiac cath lab equipment, pre and post patient care, medications, complication management, discharge and transfer flow, and patient education materials.
Henry Mayo’s new lab will house state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization and vascular equipment including digital imaging capable of offering unprecedented views of the heart and surrounding structures.
“The cardiac cath lab at Henry Mayo is a very important medical service for this community,” said Ken Cappella, cardiac cath lab supervisor. “Our staff and physicians are very excited, knowing that it will increase the quality of healthcare for the Santa Clarita community and that people won’t have to travel out of town to have vital diagnostic procedures performed.”
Cardiac catheterization is a vital tool used to assist physicians in diagnosing diseases of the heart, including but not limited to the coronary arteries and heart valves.
Henry Mayo’s catheterization lab is equipped with the latest technology, including a state-of-the-art flat panel digital imaging system that allows for exceptional visualization of even the smallest coronary vessels.
