Several weeks ago I shared an analogy with the congregation at Valencia Christian Center that proved to be incredibly encouraging.  Since then, I’ve been feeling led to share it here as well.  I just feel as if someone reading this magazine is going to be led right here to this article and walk away with the encouragement and hope they’ve been looking for.

If I had a 100-dollar bill to give to you, would you want it?  More than likely, your answer, without any hesitation, is a definite yes.  What if I crumbled that 100-dollar bill into the palm of my hand until it was hidden under my fist?  Would you still want the 100-dollar bill?  Your answer is probably still yes.  Okay, well, what if I threw the 100-dollar bill to the floor and then stepped on it?  Would you still want it then?  Okay, I know, what if I took the 100-dollar bill out to my driveway and backed over it with my car?  Would you still want it?  More than likely your answer has not in any way changed from its original “yes.”  In fact, you’re probably wondering what difference the crumbling, stepping, and driving over makes.  You’re probably thinking, “I don’t care what you do to that 100-dollar bill, I will still take it.”

Do you know why you would still take it?  You would still take it because you understand that no matter what the 100-dollar bill has been through, the value is still there.  There is nothing that I could do to that 100-dollar bill that would strip it of its value.  Do you know, that’s how God feels about you?  No matter what you’ve been through or what you may be going through.  Your value is still there.  God still wants you.  God will still take you.  So regardless of how crumbled, stepped on, or backed over you may feel, God says, “I still want you because your value is still there.”
