It was a star-studded month for the City of Santa Clarita. There were sightings everywhere! I had the opportunity to meet a few stars myself. National Hockey League’s very own Sheldon Souray of the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Duck’s Mathieu Schneider were kind enough to snap a photo with me at Ice Station Valencia. The athletes were there to help out at the Performance Hockey Academy (see Spotlight on Sports on page 12 for more details).
Best known for her roles as Olivia Kendall in The Cosby Show and Raven on That’s So Raven, actress and singer Raven-Symone was seen at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Santa Clarita. Raven-Symone fans had a chance to meet her up close and personal as she was autographing copies of her new DVD, “Raven-Symone Presents.”
And guess who was filming at the Westfield Valencia Town Center? Teen heartthrobs and stars of Nickelodeon’s popular sitcom Drake & Josh, actors Drake Bell and Josh Peck, were filming for their upcoming holiday movie, Drake & Josh: Best Christmas Ever. The film centers around Drake and Josh, who happen to be working as Santa’s helpers in the mall, as they promise a little girl she will have the “Best Christmas Ever”. The film is set to debut in November or December of this year.
It’s been confirmed that Steve Carell was seen at the Petco in Santa Clarita. Saugus resident and Petco sales employee, Shannon Bloom, helped Steve with the purchase of beta fish. “He was very nice and very polite,” states Shannon. Steve Carell is an award winning comedian, actor, producer and writer. He’s best known for his role in The Office, and has co-starred in Bruce Almighty, Anchorman,The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Little Miss Sunshine, Dan in Real Life, Horton Hears a Who! and Get Smart.
