You want to make sure that you always maintain the lowest rates possible for your insurance. However, you also need to make sure that you have the right coverage and will receive great service should you ever have a claim. If you use the seven points below when evaluating your current agent or in shopping for a new one, you’ll have the greatest chance to receive the best value for every dollar you spend on insurance.
Make sure your agent:
1. Is ranked as one of the insurance company’s top agents and you’re insured by a leading company. He should have documentation that proves his high rating and openly share it with you.
2. Is an expert in providing you with the proper coverage for your situation.
3. Is motivated to spend the time required to get all of the information he needs to evaluate your situation properly.
4. Guarantees to review your policy annually and furnish recommendations. This includes providing a rate/coverage comparison with other insurance companies to help you decide whether to stay with your current policy and agent. He should always place your interests ahead of making commissions.
5. Always answers your questions timely and thoroughly, and makes sure his responses are always accurate.
6. Provides you with several references you can contact.
7. Will provide you with these promises in writing.
If your agent cannot convince you that he will provide you with these seven points, find an agent who will.
