Halloween can be a scary time  with all of the ghosts and ghouls running about. Most people get shivers down their spine when they start having problems with their computers.
A friend of mine has been a PC user since the beginning of time.  The funny thing is, what occupies most of his time with his computer is fixing all of the problems it is constantly having.  He’s always complaining about viruses and system crashes.  One day he said to me “why aren’t you always complaining about your computer?  Oh that’s right, you use a Mac!”  he says sarcastically and then adds, “I could never switch to a Mac, I have too many files on my PC and couldn’t bear to start all over!”

At Mactalk, we hear this from people all of the time.  The funny thing is, I said the same thing once upon a time.  The truth is that switching to a Mac now is really easier than ever, most every program or application is available for the Mac and you can even run windows on a Mac as well.  Almost every new printer and wireless router is compatible with a Mac so you don’t have to buy a bunch of new equipment.  I showed him how all of my digital cameras can connect to my Mac without having to load any software, and how easily I can edit, organize and email my photos all with programs that came pre-loaded on my Mac.

Needless to say, as with many of my friends, he was impressed.  The next day he showed up at our store and we helped him pick out the right computer and software for his needs and even transferred his files from his old PC.  He has been a regular at our classes and hasn’t had any problems with viruses or system crashes.  He now admits that he doesn’t know why it took him so long to switch and that it was not nearly as scary as he thought it would be.
