“Deck the halls with boughs of holly. . .”   Christmas carols inspire us to begin our preparations for this holiday season.  It is these preparations that envelope our families and loved ones with the spirit of the season.
Envisioning the faces of children when eyes light up at the sight of Christmas lights outlining our homes, and lawn decorations reminiscent of the elusive Santa and his eight tiny reindeer, we begin our plans.  Exterior decorations can range from the traditional wreaths, garlands, and luminaries to the garish 3-D lighted figures.  The choices in exterior lighting are overwhelming–from the traditional C-9 multi-colored lights to the ultimate “icicle” lights.

The interior of the home can be festooned with garlands, ribbons, and candles.  Collectibles can decorate the home as well as fill the “wish” list.  There are the elfish faced felt Annalee dolls, Santas, mice, and elves, in addition to a large variety of snowmen, and all sorts and sizes of wonderful, cuddly stuffed animals.  Fontanini nativity figures and sets are a wonderful “hands-on” experience to share with children, especially since it is an heirloom collectible also.  Traditional glass ornaments, hand-blown and hand-painted by European craftsman are destined to become heirlooms.   Start a tradition, or add to a collection of Department 56 lighted houses, with the exciting new pieces for each village.

Our most often recollected holiday vision, however, is the focal point of our Yuletide cheer–the Christmas tree.  The Christmas tree can be artificial (a good choice for anyone wanting their tree to stay up from Thanksgiving through New Year’s), fresh cut, or a living tree.  Trees, real or artificial, come in all sizes, shapes, colors, and varieties.  Decorations for the tree can come from the heart, or the tree can be a showcase tree, or anything else in between.

To help you fulfill your quest to make this a memorable holiday, our showroom has been designed with its own vision of Christmas.  The collectible lines are charmingly displayed, the outdoor lighting surrounds the interior of the store, the Christmas trees aglow, and the gifts can fill your list.  The living and cut trees pack our nursery outside.

After the house is decorated inside and out, the tree is all aglow with gifts nestled underneath, the table elegantly set, and the stockings have been  “Hung by the chimney with care,” it is time for families and friends to arrive, and to “Rejoice Ye Merry Gentlemen . . . “

The Green Thumb Garden Center Christmas Shop is open daily 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is located at 23734 Newhall Ave. (formerly San Fernando Rd.) in Newhall.
