It has certainly been a fun journey over the past seven months discussing the power of unity. I believe that a greater awareness has been brought to the need for us to come together and join forces toward a common goal as opposed to getting sidetracked and trapped in competition and tearing each other down.
As I conclude this series, I do so by summing up our look at unity using what I will call the three “I’s.” If I were to ask a parent, “Did you desire to have children so that they could fight?” The answer would obviously be, “of course not.” Just like parents desire to see their children getting along, helping each other, and working together, God desires the same for His children – all of us. God never created us so that we could fight each other. He created us so that we could work together, help each other, support each other, encourage each other, and love each other. And so, unity is intended.
Though unity is intended, unfortunately it is not natural. It takes work. It takes each of us making a conscious choice and effort to do our part in promoting unity. Each of us needs to make up our mind to keep unity at the forefront of all that we do. The fact of the matter is that we can go much further together, than we can separately. Therefore, not only is unity intended, but unity is international.
Lastly, over the last seven months, we have seen the connection between unity and encouragement, unity and peace, unity and hope, unity and comfort, unity and success, unity and confidence, unity and strength, and unity and love. Therefore, not only is unity intended and intentional, but unity is imperative.
In order to walk in everything that God desires for us to walk in as a society, we must make the decision to unite and support each other through this thing that we call “life.” So now, given that unity is intended, intentional, and imperative, the question again becomes, “Are you doing your part?”
