You may have seen the car in Westfield’s Valencia Town Center. It was parked in the mall for six weeks following Thanksgiving. It’s the Valencia Time Center Smart Car®. Strolling shoppers had an opportunity to submit an entry to win a Ball watch from the Valencia Time Center. Some 485 votes later, the winner was chosen.
After the winner was selected, Valencia Time Center owner, Christopher Froian, sent an e-mail to notify the recipient. Instead of receiving an excited reply, Chris told me that the gentleman asked to be removed from the e-mailing list. Chris obliged, and proceeded to notify the winner with a telephone call. The gentleman never called back.
So another entry was selected, and Chris couldn’t have been more excited. “We were so thrilled to make the call and tell Tom he won,” stated Chris. “Tom has been a customer of ours for years. He’s a deserving guy and I’m glad he won.”
Tom and his wife Dede Lambrecht have been residents of the Santa Clarita Valley for over 30 years. Dede accepted the phone call and told her husband he was the lucky winner. “I was so excited,” stated Tom, “I collect pocket watches, but have been saving up for a Ball wristwatch. I couldn’t believe I ended up winning one! The only thing I’ve ever won was a golf shirt that I don’t even like to wear! What a great surprise!” Tom continued, “I’ve always done business with Chris. He’s been around for awhile, and I’m glad his business continues to do as well as they have, even in this economy.”
