May is National Stroke Awareness Month!

On Wednesday, May 6 Accessible Home Health Care of Northwest Los Angeles County presents “Home Care with Compassion” from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Activity Rooms 1 and 2 of the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market Street.  Also, information on veterans’ assistance will be provided.
Other Consumer Lectures for May at the SCV Senior Center will be: Wednesday, May 13: Dr. Ronald Schwartz discusses “Aging of the Arteries: Inflammation and Atherosclerosis.” Wednesday, May 20: SCV Chiropractor Dr. Roger M. De Sesa presents “The 100-Year Lifestyle – Caring for Your Body, Mind and Spine.” Wednesday, May 27: Providence Holy Cross Medical Center presents Roberta Greenberg, R.N., speaking on “Surgical Options for Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders.” All lectures are from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Activity Rooms 1 and 2 of the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market Street.

In addition, the following free health clinics will be offered at the SCV Senior Center: Wednesday, May 6: Free glucose screenings by Registered Dietitian Lori Robinson, 11 a.m. to noon, Respite Office.  On Wednesday, May 20: Hearing Clinic by Randy Bartlett of Audiology Services of Newhall, 11 a.m. to noon in the Respite Office. Thursday, May 28: Free podiatric screenings by podiatrist Dr. Shane Rhodes, D.P.M., 11 a.m. to noon in the Respite Office. Every Wednesday: Free blood pressure checks performed by nurses, noon to 1 p.m. in Activity Room 3.
