We now make our own paint fresh everyday. Every product (all water-based) made with our system is below the most stringent air quality standards in the country. Because we make the paint fresh everyday, it doesn’t sit on a shelf. It is smoother and more consistent than anything we’ve used in the past. We believe our process has the best overall “green” effect for the environment that a painting contractor or paint manufacturer could have. It actually changes the traditional way of making and shipping paint, which hasn’t really changed in 100 years. The traditional way of making paint (including low VOC to no VOC paints) really isn’t that “green” at all and negates the environmental benefits the traditional manufacturer is trying create. Sure, it is low or no VOC paint, but consider the overall impact it has on the environment from the beginning of the manufacturing of the product to getting the paint into the applicator’s hands. Currently, most paint manufacturers make hundreds and hundreds of different types of paints in various sheens, quality levels, and bucket sizes. Then all those pail combinations have to be shipped (sometimes across the country), warehoused, shipped again to a local store, unloaded, stocked, and rotated. Finally, after sitting on untold miles of shelves all across the country, the local store tints the paint, and then delivers it to the painting contractor who then has to deliver it to the customer. The overall “carbon footprint” for an average gallon of paint is tremendous. Surprisingly, for the traditional manufacturer, it costs more to just ship the paint than to make it.
With our system, we receive only six liquid components in bulk directly to our facility in Valencia, CA. These components are transferred to permanent tanks that take up less than 300 square feet. The components are then dispensed and tinted by the system to create all levels of interior and exterior paints and primers in countless colors. There is basically no shelved inventory associated with our program and the shipping and handling of the paint is greatly reduced, which has a much lower impact on the environment. This allows us to make a better paint at a better price that we then pass on to the consumer. This also provides us and our clients with tremendous advantages over the old way of making paint. Most important is the deep and legitimate green advantage.
