The Southern California Orthopedic Institute (SCOI) has been an integral part of the Santa Clarita Valley’s health care for the past 20 years. Opening its first Valencia office in 1989 in a small suite on the Henry Mayo campus, SCOI has grown to become firmly established in the Santa Clarita area. On March 16th, SCOI moved to its new location in the Bridgeport Center, where it will continue to provide all aspects of quality orthopedic care. The 22,000 square foot office contains clinical space for SCOI’s orthopedic specialists, an updated and expanded physical therapy and occupational therapy department, digital x-ray, and an MRI.
A private practice consisting of 33 Board Certified/Board Eligible physicians who specialize in various aspects of musculoskeletal care, the Southern California Orthopedic Institute provides a broad spectrum of services, including sports medicine; orthopedic surgery of the spine, shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist, hip, foot and ankle; physical medicine and rehabilitation; pediatric orthopedics; and plastic and reconstructive surgery. With an in-house physical therapy and occupational therapy department, SCOI’s providers are able to follow patients from injury through recovery and rehabilitation. The new state-of-the-art MRI scanner and digital radiography available in the Valencia office allow for a patient’s diagnostic imaging to be done all in one location, and provide the SCOI physicians with detailed, quality scans.
The physicians of the Southern California Orthopedic Institute are world renowned for their expertise and are actively involved in teaching other health care professionals, through SCOI’s own fellowship programs, as well as at local, national and international medical conferences. They author numerous articles, book chapters, and textbooks which are in demand at educational institutions. In addition, they are pioneers in orthopedic research and are constantly working to develop newer and better techniques, instruments, braces, etc., in order to provide state-of-the-art care for their patients. SCOI’s physicians founded the Southern California Orthopedic Research & Education Center, a non-profit entity dedicated to the provision of both continuing medical education for health care professionals, as well as public and community service education.
