This month we have a very special comedy show on June 19 and 20 with Helen Keaney. Helen is formerly one of the 3 Blonde Moms, and currently one of the hosts on HSN.
She has a comedy show called Tales from Home Shopping, which she is bringing to J.R.’s Comedy Club in Valencia. Helen lived in the Santa Clarita Valley for many years where her daughter was born and started school. At one of the 3 Blonde Moms shows, my wife Diana, who is addicted to home shopping, said to Helen, “You should become a host on The Home Shopping Network.” She inspired Helen to audition, and low and behold, she got the job. Helen moved to Florida, and has been on the air ever since. She will bring this hilarious show to J.R.’s for two very special nights. All of you gals, who love to shop, will love this show.
I find that women are willing to devote a little more time to shopping than are men. Most guys go and get what they need as quickly as possible. Often they only buy something when it is absolutely necessary, like when they are out of underwear or all of their socks are the same color of pink.
Women will make a sport of it. I have watched women go into a touristy area off a cruise ship and walk into one hundred shops, all filled with the same exact stuff, and examine every piece as if it were an heirloom.
They are tireless, fearless and determined to see everything. You can usually see their husbands, dragging behind them wearily carrying the packages of junk that will soon be stuffed into a closet, soon to be forgotten forever. The husbands are defeated helpless shells of their former selves. They have given up. They have surrendered.
Women rule when it comes to shopping. They are the champions. So, all of you victorious women out there, drag your husbands into J.R.’s Comedy Club this month, and have them buy you some pie.
