It’s hard to believe it, but Man’oushee, the first Mediterranean Bakery and Café in the Santa Clarita Valley, marks its first year in business on June 12, 2009. Man’oushee is a small bakery-Café that cranks out Lebanese desserts and delicacies like five kinds of Baklava including Nammoura, attayef, knefeh, etc as well as salads, savory wraps and custom-ordered, traditional Lebanese Breakfast lunch and dinner. It is the first of its kind in the SCV and the locals, and non-locals, are hooked.  Maral Sabounjian, owner head baker and chef, explains the concept behind Man’oushee:
“It’s simple, really. We wanted to introduce Middle Eastern and Mediterranean baked goods to the Santa Clarita Valley by combining our love for food with a good sense of business ethics and customer service. Opening a business during a recession is always risky, and we didn’t know if the local community would enjoy the flavors of Lebanese and Armenian cuisine. But our customers have been so supportive and really do appreciate our effort to provide an excellent product.  Making healthy, unprocessed and fresh food for them is a pleasure and we are so fortunate to have opportunity to be able to do this.”

Judging by the amount of repeat customers, it’s safe to say that they are just as appreciative.  Not only is the food delicious, but has the added bonus of being wholesome.

Typically, the Mediterranean diet is low in saturated fat and typically includes vegetables, legumes, olive oil, nuts and lean meats. Man’oushee goes one step beyond this and has a zero-preservative, 100 percent made-from-scratch policy on everything that comes out of the kitchen.  This means no canned garbanzo beans in the hummus, fresh lemon juice in the tabouleh and rosewater syrup made with sugar, water and rosewater – that’s it. It is this dedication to quality that sets Man’oushee apart from other bakeries and cafés.

To thank the SCV community for being so welcoming, Man’oushee will be serving a complimentary special breakfast on June 14 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Maral, Natasha and the entire Man’oushee staff welcome you and your family to join them that day to celebrate their one year anniversary, with hopes of making it an annual tradition for many years to come.

Man’oushee is located at 27131 Sierra Highway, Suite 100.  For more information, please call 661-251-6666.
