Order Makes Possible a Donation of 40,000 Pots of Coffee to Military Members
Newhall Coffee Roasting Company expresses appreciation to Sam’s Club for their order of 91,000 pounds of Newhall’s Patriot Blend and 61,000 pounds of Old Town Newhall blend. “We’re delighted by this very substantial order,” says Newhall Coffee founder and CEO Mitch McMullen. “Sam’s Club’s support of our Patriot Blend makes it possible for us to send a 40,000 coffee pot donation to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
Newhall developed Patriot Blend in 2003 as a way to contribute a bit of home comfort to U.S. soldiers. For every bag of Patriot Blend sold, Newhall sends a free bag for a pot of coffee to an active military member. “Sending ‘joe’ to GIs,” says McMullen, “is our way of thanking them for their service.
The flip side of this is how gratified we are at the many letters of heartfelt thanks we receive from the front lines.” Letters can be viewed at http://www.newhallcoffee.com . Newhall coordinates deliveries to the troops through Operation Gratitude, www.opgratitude.com .
“Sustainability also gets a boost with Sam’s Club’s order of an additional 61,000 pounds of our Old Town Newhall Blend,” McMullen adds, “which is Certified Organic and Fair Trade.” This blend was declared the official coffee of the City of Santa Clarita in 2004.
